St. Paul Outreach & Knights of Columbus Volunteer Day - September 1, 2007

Our beautiful old barn needs a lot of work to someday make it into a Shrine. It was filled with equipment and lots of junk. One-third of the building still had stalls for animals, and a dirt floor. It was badly in need of some work! Enter, the St. Paul's Outreach men from Ohio State University and Ohio Dominican University!

Meanwhile, in another corner of the property, some of the St. Paul's Outreach men have arrived in the wood-burning furnace building to help with splitting and stacking wood.
Many hands make for light work!
Even the "old guys" are getting in on the action here!
Ahhhhh, a nice new stack of freshly-cut wood!

Before that wood could be stacked in that corner, Gregg Hinterschied, Tom Montix, and Roy Sabo from the St. Edward's (Granville) Knights of Columbus spent many hours leveling the dirt floors of the wood burning furnace building so wood could be stacked on palettes donated by Lowe's in Heath. Here, Gregg loosens the dirt under Roy's watchful eye!

Once the floor was leveled, a walkway was made with palettes covered by sheets of plywood. Now the Sisters won't sink into the mud on wet days!
All that effort is rewarded as Mother Margaret Mary arrives with delicious pineapple-banana fruit drinks for the tired and dusty workers!

Finally, after a long day of hard work, all the workers and Sisters gathered in the newly-cleared and cleaned barn to pray and sing in gratitude . . .
. . . and all under the watchful eye and loving protection of our Blessed Mother Mary!
