The sign in front of the Crucifix reads "Two were crucified with Jesus. One blasphemed Him. The other turned to Him with love. Suffering is part of each person's life. We each have a choice: grow bitter or turn to Jesus and hear Him say, 'You will be with Me in Paradise.'"[Click image for larger photo]

Torchbearers of the Queen Retreat
On July 24-26, and July 27-30, the Sisters of the Children of Mary hosted retreats for girls in grades 3-8 and high school, respectively. The focus of these retreats was to grow in love with Our Lord by learning more about Him and by spending time with Him in Mass, Adoration, Confession & Prayer and consecration to Him through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.[Click image for larger photo]
In the middle of the night, the Sisters awoke the girls saying, "Our Lady is here and She wants to see you!" The girls quickly dressed and went out with torches and came to the statue of Our Lady, who was now robed as Our Lady of America, and they heard Her words to the youth of America (click below to hear the message . . . ).Our Lady's Message to Her Torchbearers

Sisters Return From Rome
The Adoratio 2011 International Conference on Eucharistic Adoration in Rome was the most grace-filled event we have ever attended! Everyday we heard cardinals and bishops speak about the necessity of adoring Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. Each day a different Cardinal celebrated Mass, the most beautiful, reverent and prayerful Masses you can imagine. God's presence was felt in a powerful way as about four hundred of us from around the world came together to listen, to pray, to adore and to share about Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament. When we left Rome on the 24th, we felt as if we had left Mt. Tabor. This conference was a gift to the Church. A book will be published of all the talks in the upcoming months.[Click image for more photos]

Monsignor Morris, director of liturgy at the Pontifical College Josephinum, came to Children of Mary on March 19th, Solemnity of St. Joseph, to give a retreat for the Knights of Columbus. He offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, heard confessions, and gave two great talks about fatherhood. They had a delicious chicken dinner served by the Sisters, and then we all adored Our Eucharistic Lord enthroned on the altar. We ended with the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Benediction.[Click image for larger photo]

September 8, 2010 - Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Sisters had a wonderful day celebrating the birth of Our Lady. We made beautiful clothing for Maria Bambina, an image of the infant Mary. Fr. Ferguson blessed her, asking God to bless all who look upon her. Later in the day we took Maria Bambia to visit an elderly woman, 90 years old, who is not Catholic but who has relatives who are. We had visited her twice before at the request of her son because she was in hospice and we thought she was dying. But this day she was up and about, feeling great and off hospice care. We let her hold Maria Bambia. She kept looking at it and smiling. Then she said, “Well, I'm not Catholic, but that doesn't mean I won't become one.” The following day we received a message from her granddaughter saying that her grandmother had called her after our visit and talked about becoming Catholic. We were all shockd because she had never spoken of this before. At the Visitation Mary brought Baby Jesus to Elizabeth. This day Baby Mary brought Jesus to another elderly woman. God is sooo good! For more information about the devotion to Maria Bambina, click HERE.

On July 31st, the Children of Mary had another Ora et Labora day. Two men came from Perry County - Jim Hamann and Joseph Smith - and they did a LOT of work and cleared a lot of brush for us. Their names are Jim Hamann discussing the project with Sr. Mary Teresa, and Joseph Smith with the weedwacker. Marilyn Crisafi from Cleveland, who came for a weekend retreat, helped us weed the flower gardens.[Click images for larger photos]Pilgrimage Each year in honor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel the sisters make a pilgrimage. Every year we pray and ask Our Lord where He would have us go, and He always leads! This year we went to The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament. When Bishop Schneider visited us two years ago, he encouraged us to go and see the Eucharistic Walk there. It was a wonderful pilgrimage! We first went to Fr. Corapi's conference in Cincinnati and stayed two nights with the Little Sisters of the Poor. They take a forth vow of hospitality, and they live that now beautifully! Then we went to the Shrine and enjoyed the hospitality of the Poor Clares, and visited the Benedictine monks at a nearby abbey and chanted Office with them. On the way home we stayed in the guest quarters of the Fathers of Mercy in KY and saw their beatiful new chapel. God is good! We were edified by the love and hospitality of our brother and sister religious in all of these communities. May the Lord bless their ministries!

Bishop Olmsted Visits Children of Mary
On Friday, July 9th, it was with great joy that we welcomed Bishop Thomas Olmsted of the Diocese of Phoenix to our land! He arrived at 3:00pm and adored Our Lord with us and then we prayed Evening Prayer and he offered Holy Mass. It was beautiful, to share this time of prayer and adoration with a shepherd of the Church. We then gave him a tour of the land and shared supper and talked at length. An exciting thing he is doing is requiring all who come asking to be married in the Church to attend a course in Theology of the Body. He told us that as is normal these days, unfortunately, 90% - 95% of the couples are co-habitating. The good news is that by the end of the first day, only 20% intend to continue to do so. (Hopefully by the end of the course none of those will make that choice.) Pray with us that this course will become the norm for all dioceses and that this one action alone will help transform the Church and the world. There is that potential to transform, we believe, if all Catholics would embrace Pope John Paul II's beautiful insights into the deeper meaning of sexuality. Please, Lord, in your mercy, teach us about the wisdom and beauty of creation.June 2010

Coming Home Network Conference The Children of Mary attended the Coming Home Network Conference at the Hilton in October. It was a great conference. We put up the Vatican International Exhibit of Eucharistic Miracles and prepared the adoration chapel. Many came to adore Our Lord during the conference. The chapel was beautiful, with soft sacred music playing, the smell of incense, and most important, Our Eucharistic King was enthroned and overjoyed with so many of His People coming to return love for Love!
